What an Andaman tour package covers
The tourism department's sample route runs for 6 days and combines Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) and Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep). A typical Andaman tour package follows the same shape: a city day, two or three days on Havelock and a day on Neil, linked by ferry.
Packages differ in what they include. Before you compare prices, check the ferry operator and class, the transfers, the entry tickets and whether any permit is part of the price. A ticket for the Cellular Jail light and sound show is not a ferry ticket, and a ferry ticket does not include boat trips or activities.

Our picks: Andaman island trips
Mostly short trips from Havelock and Neil. Pick the boat dive if you want to go below the surface, Tribe Gate for a guided snorkel, the kayak tour for an evening on the water and the Neil shorewalk for a quiet low-tide morning.

An Andaman trip in six days
One way to split the time. Ferries depend on the weather, so keep the last day loose.
Day 1: Sri Vijaya Puram
See the Cellular Jail by day and stay for the evening show. Corbyn's Cove is on the official city route if you want some time by the sea.
Cellular Jail →Days 2 and 3: Havelock
Take a morning ferry. Spend one day at Elephant Beach for organised water activities and one at Radhanagar Beach, where you should arrive by 16:00 for the sunset.
Havelock guide →Day 4: Neil
Ferries run from Havelock to Neil in the morning and in the afternoon. Plan your visit to the Natural Bridge around the local low tide, which changes daily.
Neil guide →Day 5: Back to Port Blair
Ferries from Neil to Port Blair take about 60 to 75 minutes on the private catamarans. Use the rest of the day for Ross Island or North Bay, which you reach by boat from Aberdeen.
Ross and North Bay →Day 6: Spare day
Keep it as a weather buffer before your flight, or use it for Baratang. That trip is long: about 100 to 110 km north of the capital, 3 to 4 hours by road, with a vehicle ferry on the way.

| North Bay entry | Free | The boat and activities are paid separately |
For most first-time visitors, five to six days across Port Blair, Havelock and Neil work best. Add Baratang or Diglipur only if you can spare extra days, since both need long road or sea legs and permits.
Andaman packages: what to check
Four questions that explain most price differences.
Which ferries are included?
Government and private ferries have different prices and schedules. Ask which operator and class the package uses and whether the return leg is booked.
Ferry times and prices →Are activities part of the price?
Snorkeling, a sea walk, a glass-bottom boat or a first dive are separate activities. A package that says island hopping does not automatically include them.
Snorkeling and sea walk →Who arranges permits?
Tourist exceptions to the Restricted Area Permit run until 31 December 2027, but forest permits for places such as Jolly Buoy are still needed. Ask who applies for them and when.
Permit rules →Is a dive included?
Dives inside the marine national park carry an extra fee of ₹1,000 per person and day for foreign visitors. Check whether a package price already covers it.
Scuba diving →Getting to the islands for your tour
Flights and ships change what your first day looks like.
Most visitors reach the islands by plane. A nonstop flight from Chennai to Port Blair takes about 2 hours 15 minutes. Ships also sail from the mainland: government ships sail from Chennai, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam, and a crossing takes about three calendar days. Read the airport page for the way into town.
Andaman tour packages: frequently asked questions
How many days do I need for an Andaman tour?
The tourism department's sample route takes 6 days across Port Blair, Havelock and Neil. Five days can work if you skip Neil or run the days tightly. Leave a spare day for weather before your flight.
How much does an Andaman tour package cost?
There is no standard price. A package depends on the ferry class, the hotels and the activities. The table above lists single costs, such as ₹100 for the Cellular Jail for foreign visitors and ferry fares from ₹1,250, so you can compare a quote line by line.
Can I do an Andaman trip without a package?
Yes. Ferries, entry tickets and activities are sold separately, so you can build the route yourself. A package can save effort on transfers and permits.
Does an Andaman tour include the permit?
Not by default. Tourist exceptions to the Restricted Area Permit run until 31 December 2027. Forest permits for Jolly Buoy, the Baratang caves and Ross and Smith are separate, so ask the seller who arranges them.
Is the Cellular Jail show part of the tour?
The show is a separate ticket. Adults pay ₹300 and children aged 5 to 11 pay ₹150. Availability for each day is shown on the ticket portal.
